Camper's Log - May 1, 2005

Dear Fans,

As I was saying, my brother and sister-in-law (SIL) came for a visit on their way to and from Hawaii. SIL is 7 months pregnant, so I knew there would be some complications. No sex or drugs or liquor. I'm like, what's left?

The first night my brother and I drove to North Face in Berkeley and I shopped vicariously through his purchases. But first we had to get there. That involved a 25 minute detour looking for the right onramp, then getting on the wrong highway, then turning around and going across the bridge. The way back was much easier. The next day SIL went to visit her former kindergarten teacher in Oakland. But first we were slightly detoured looking for the right onramp to get on the highway. We dropped her off, then headed to Marin.

But first, we took a 25 minute detour looking for the right highway onramp. Then we got over to Marin and went to the trailhead.

But first, we got lost for about a half hour looking for the right off ramp, and went by it, but it turns out we went to the right one in the first place. Then we thought we were lost but we'd just taken a slower way to where we were going. Then we got confused where the wrong street sign was up in Bolinas.

We hiked a couple miles to Bass Lake and went for a swim. We were the only people on the lake, and it was awesome. After that, we tried to make it back in time to go see the Oakland Banjo Band, but because we got lost so many times on the way there, we couldn't make it.

The next day, we went to do a hike near Oakland but forgot the guidebook, so mostly we were just lost. Then we found where we were going and picked up SIL. That night we didn't do anything and then they went to Hawaii.

All in all, we drove around lost a lot. THE END.
