Camper's Log - September 25, 2001

Dear Fans,

In the wake of the recent national tragedy, it is no longer acceptable to use violent or aggressive speech, for that would be insensitive to victims of the attack. Radio stations have made anti-playlists of offensive songs, such as "Peace Train" and "99 Luft Balloons." This is to save our nation's psyche from thinking too much about bad stuff. Offensive words should never be mentioned, unless of course one is talking about what we will do to the enemy.

While it's easy to write down a list of words to eliminate from literature and music and television and movies, it isn't easy to remove common expressions from one's natural vocabulary. Some terms have become so ingrained in our speech that it is no trivial matter to eradicate, er.... displace them.

I figured that at the very least I can do my part to provide alternatives for common, now offensive phrases.
