He is totally cool and he dresses great! All the boys want to hang out with him cause he's a rebel. The girls all want to go out with him because he's sensitive and funny and wears cool clothes. He is on the swim team and I saw him in his speedo once when I was covering a swim meet. He's really sexy!
All the girls want to go out with him, but he only dates the popular girls and never the smart ones who are in the Honor's level classes and write for the paper. Nobody can figure out why that is because everyone knows that smart girls are better than popular girls even if the popular girls are prettier and have more money. The last two girls he dated were Shari Brooks and Susan Davies. He broke up with both of them and he only went out with Susan for three weeks! Some of the girls were making fun of her but I didn't cause I wanted to be her friend. I asked her if she would be in an article I was writing about the girls' soccer team and she said OK. That article didn't actually get finished in time but I got to ask her lots of questions about Camper.
I asked Susan what she did to make him break up with her and she said that even though Camper told everybody that they had sex they didn't really and when she asked him if he started the rumor he said yes then she said maybe then they should have sex so it wouldn't be a rumor and that's when he broke up with her. That doesn't make any sense and I'm sure Camper wouldn't do that. I think she's lying and that she is just mad that he broke up with her and that everybody calls her "Slutty Susie" now. He would never break up with me if we went out.
Camper is in my Math class and he's pretty smart. He doesn't get good grades but that's just cause he doesn't try. I think he's naturally intelligent and so does Mrs. Lichtstein cause she said if he applied himself instead of running around with girls he could get straight A's. One time in class he got in trouble for making funny sounds with his armpit and he got sent to the principal's office and Paul Rogers said he was in the principal's office for an hour and he came out with a big smile on his face. We thought he got in a fight with Mr. Snyder cause the knees on his pants were all ripped but he said that they were just telling jokes. Even the principal thinks Camper is funny!
I asked Camper if I could interview him for the school paper and first he said no but then I said I could pay him ten dollars that my aunt gave me for babysitting all weekend that I was going to use to buy a present for my sister who's in the hospital and he said OK. He said "It's not easy being popular. You have to always look cool and be nice to people even if they're dorks who write for the yearbook."
I never talked to him alone before and I guess I was nervous cause it sounded like he was talking funny and his breath smelled like cough medicine, but I probably just spilled something on myself. I kept checking but I didn't see anything. I said that it must be really neat having everyone like you so much and he said "Some of the guys in the locker room get real mad when I snap them with my towel and tug on their jockstraps but then I give them cigarettes. They're all a bunch of suckers." He must have been tired then cause he kept putting his arm around my shoulder but then I had to go to the language club meeting so I left.
Camper English is the most popular boy in school. He is really nice and funny. That is why he is an important part of the school social life.
